The PainI have a pain in the deepest part of my heart. A pain, too deep to be healed. My heart-ache is caused by the predicament we find ourselves in. The fact that no African nation is considered a 1st world nation is a ‘pain’ too cancerous to tolerate.
Do you know:
That 24 out of the 32 wars currently happening in the world is taking place on the African continent;
That in 2003, the African aviation industry represented just 3% of the global aviation industry but accounted for 5% of the total incidents and accidents;
That more than two dozen of the 36 state governors in Nigerian, in 2007, were alleged to be guilty corrupt enrichment. If in doubt, please ask the EFCC;
That at the age of 24, it is perfectly okay to be an undergraduate in Nigeria. To still be living under the roof of one’s father at 30 is considered normal in Africa;
That most Africans do not discover their purpose, nay vision, until we are about 40 years old;
That America’s mega corporations like Google, Yahoo, Face book, Fed Ex, Dell etc were launched in the dormitories of their universities;
That 8 in 10 young persons in Nigeria would gladly exchange their green card for, even, that of the poorest nation in South America or Europe.
The Solution
Whilst I do not claim to have all the answers, however I think I can suggest a few…
1. Shun acts of irresponsibility: Our greatest sin is that of irresponsibility. What is required for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
2. Entrepreneurship is the key: Our problem is not unemployment but massive creation of jobs.
3. Walk the talk: Become an entrepreneur today and save our future by taking one jobless graduate off the street.
4. Be a part of the solution: Decide to be a person of influence and seek to be a role model to the generation next.
The Dream
A dream is a goal with a deadline. Without a dream destiny is doomed. I hereby declare: I HAVE A DREAM!
I have a dream:
That someday in the sometimes of tomorrow, Nigeria will be undoubtedly the true GIANT of Africa;
That Americans will queue up, perhaps sleep, at the Nigerian Embassies in New York and Washington to obtain the Nigerian green card;
That my son would not see a corrupt Nigerian Police nor behold an erratic PHCN;
That your children and mine would, one day, be proud citizens of the most prosperous black nation on earth and live in a 1st world country.
Mahatma Gandhi, an Indian statesman, once said “You must be the change you want to see in your world.” The reason we are in this national mess is because you and I have abandoned our collective national destiny and allowed untutored and integrity deficient men, in the guise of politicians, to do what they know best. We need to take our destiny into our own hands…
